Customer Reviews

I want my money back!
2007-03-09I cannot get this product to work. My husband and I have tried several times to install it on our Dell computer which we purchased at the same time and have yet to be successful.

Clear scans, easy operation
2006-11-12This is my first review after many years at Amazon, but was impressed by this scanner and disagree with the first reviewer's comments that I felt I should add my opinion. I actually purchased mine at Best Buy on sale in August on sale for a little less. Regardless of the price, I've used more expensive scanners that do not perform as well. You get more than your money's worth with the quality and suppplied software.
I found this scanner easy to operate right out of the box. After installing the supplied Paperport software (which was fast and easy), I had it up doing basic scanning within 20 minutes.
The scanner can be operated via the software or buttons on the front of the scanner itself. I use eFax and after a document is scanned - even the very first time - when choosing to fax the document, it was sent to my eFax with no additional setup and faxed correctly.
You can customize settings dependent on what your needs are, easily too. The quality is good. It is up to you to decide which format you wish to use. They all operate differently so depending what mode you use, the quality can be from average B & W to quality color. The negative scanner works well too.
So, I would definitely recommend this scannner. The Paperport software makes use simple and easy to organize your files elswhere on your PC in varied formats. There is also additonal My Book Publisher and Arcsoft photo sofware included.

Xerox 6400
2005-10-26The Xerox 6400 scanner comes with lots of software, including PaperPort SE for managing documents and ArcSoft Scrapbook Suite for editing photos and creating collages for scrapbooks. Unfortunately, the package is undermined by relatively low scan quality for the claimed 3,200-ppi resolution and 48-bit color depth.
Comes with PaperPort SE 9, which has built-in OCR for document management. Scans 35-mm slides and film. Software is easy to learn and use.
Resolution doesn't live up to the 3,200 pixel-per-inch (ppi) claim.

Audio & Video Connections Guide
" For a list of all the ways technology has failed to improve the quality of life, please press three." - Alice Kahn
This quote is certainly applicable to consumer electronics. From the very first commercially produced radios to the latest in high-definition television technology, the manner in which the components used to deliver our news, music, movies and entertainment are interconnected seems to have escaped logic. For both the newcomer and the old hand alike, connecting equipment in the most efficient and effective manner can be a painful chore. It is hoped this article will improve your background knowledge concerning potential A/V system connection schemes and where each is most appropriate. The next time you find yourself in a "connectivity quandary" perhaps the ideas shared here will help you to quickly solve the riddle of which wire goes where and why!
