This incredibly flexible machine lets you print directly from your memory card or your compatible Canon digital camera or digital video camera. Or, if you prefer, you can use the printer's media slot as a card reader to load the photos onto your hard disk. The slot will handle all of the most popular media including the CF Card, Smart Media, Memory Stick and SD card. The Bubble Jet i470D has a built-in LCD control panel that lets you choose what photos you want to print, what size you want to print them and on what media. You've never had so much control without a computer before.If you do use your computer, the printer's new PhotoViewer lets you display images and print settings on your monitor at the touch of a button. The Bubble Jet i470D delivers 4800x1200 dpi printing capability combined with advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology to ensure you of clear, crisp photo prints. It also features Canon's new Micro-Nozzles. As drop size decreases the nozzle diameter becomes a key factor in producing ink droplets of consistent size. At 10 microns in diameter, the Micro-Nozzles ensure consistent 2 pl droplet size for the highest print quality. This machine prints full-bleed photos on A4, 4" x 6" or 5" x 7" paper sizes giving your prints the look and feel of traditional photos.The Bubble Jet i470D prints a 4" x 6" photo in about 62 seconds. The i470D isn't only a Direct Photo printer. In fact, it's not only a photo printer of any kind, it can turn out up to 18 pages per minute monochrome and 12 ppm in color. This machine will also provide you with razor-sharp text and high-contrast graphics. So, it's all the printer you'll really ever need.

I have owned the Canon i450, two i455s, and now this i470. Although they wear out quickly when you use them as much as I do--they are definitely not intended for that--these are lovely little printers, cheap to operate. The only thing you have to do is keep plenty of cartridges on hand, and use it, use it, use it, because otherwise the jets clog and the printer dies an early death.
Great little printer2007-02-17
I've had this printer for 2 years, and it still is my primary printer at home. The print catridges are cheap (you can buy a multi-pack at Costco), and it's a definite advantage that the printer has a black catridge and a color catridge. If you do more black and white printing that color printing you will appreciate this.

The printer is also quiet. Plus it has settings to adjust the noise levels. Another cool thing about this printer (especially at this price) is that you can adjust the quality of printing. At the highest print quality, it looks as good as a laser printer. However, most times you won't need the highest print quality.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the print quality is great (again, especially considering the low price).

The maintenance software that comes with the printer is easy to use.

All in all a great second or first printer.
great photos, cheapest ink cartridges on the market2007-01-20
have this printer for 3 years now, and all my other equipment ,ie computer and etc..have long since died , but not my canon i470d printer..great quality photos, and the best thing about this printer is the $$ you will save on ink! cartridges can be purchased for 2.00 each! awesome, real savings here! get this printer, i may buy another for my mom too!

Bought this printer to use to print digital photos and wanted them to look professional quality and not cheap. Pictures come out very vivid and colorful. Can also do borderless printing. Better than every single HP Printer I have ever owned (I have had 5-6 HP Printers so far..will never buy HP again)

I bought this printer to make photo pictures with my Kodak digital camera. I liked the idea that you could print pictures with it and not have to have it hooked up to a computer.

The photos that print off of this thing are awesome. You can't tell if it came from the photo shop or from my printer.

The cost to use this printer is 2 to 3 times cheaper than my Lexmark or Compaq printer. I finally got rid of those and just use my Canon printer.

It is quieter than my other two printers, too. Cheaper to run, quieter and great print quality. What more could you ask for??!!
