- ASIN: B001GLHO2Y
- List Price: $299.99
Product Description:
The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z300 Digital Camera is a high quality digital camera with excellent functionality that allows users to take beautiful pictures of people's faces and night scenes. It features a compact body that contains the combination of a 1/2.3"-type 10.1 megapixel image sensor and an EXILIM-branded 4x optical zoom lens with a useful 28mm wide-angle. A 3.0-inch LCD display with 230,400 dot resolution offers the EX-Z300's only option for framing and reviewing images, as there's no optical viewfinder on this model. The Casio EX-Z300 also includes CCD-shift type mechanical image stabilization, useful for preventing blur from camera shake. ISO sensitivity ranges from a low of ISO 64 to a maximum of ISO 3,200 equivalent, so it should be possible to further fight off camera shake and subject motion blurring by boosting the sensitivity - albeit with increased image noise. Casio's Z300 employs a contrast-detection autofocus system operating off data streaming from the camera's image sensor and the EX-Z300 also includes face detection capability. Another interesting function is that the Casio Z300 offers a twelve step "makeup" function which processes subjects' faces to smooth the skin and correct for shadows on faces - and this function can be accessed directly from a "makeup" button on the camera's body. The Casio EX-Z300 can also correct for under- or over-exposed areas in contrasty scenes. The Casio EXILIM Z300 offers not just still photos, but

Great Camera with awesome features
2009-01-04Ordered this camera to give as a x-mas present. This camera is really great. Good looks and impressive features. My favourite is the "shake" one. Basically, take a a picture while in motion and the camera will stabilize and manage to take a pic that is not blurry. To me, that is an amazing and useful feature. There are plenty others, that make this a great camera. I usually get Canon, but this one impressed me.

Movie limit not good; software harder to work with
2008-11-23I had a Casio Exilim EX-Z750 before, but lost it. So I bought the Casio Exilim EX-Z300 with higher resolution to replace it.
Good:
- high image resolution: good photos.
- big and clear LCD
- no more docking station to transfer files (vs. EX-Z750).
Bad:
- and this one is really bad: there is a video recording limit (10 minutes!). Now my home movies have to be stitched together... not cool! And this is not mentioned ANYWHERE in the manual or website - very unprofessional.
- software "PhotoLoader" is supposed to be an "upgrade" but I find it harder to use.
I would have gladly go back to Z750 because that does not have a video recording limit. Why they did that is beyond me...

Awesome digital camera
2008-11-18This is My first digital camera I bought.
I used to take pics with My cellphone which is really awfull
I just gotta say this Camera is the real Package
*awesome sharp Pictures
*HD Videos
*Lots of functions
Im just in love with the Make Up mode. This really takes the ex z300 to another level of cameras.
The only bad thing I had found is the .MOV ,when You try to edit your movies On sony vegas or Adobe After effects you can only see the video. it does not detect the audio.
you can play the videos on your media player but if you want to edit your videos you have to change the format of the clip or extract the audio and put it over your timeline.
besides that This is an awesome cam.

Great Camera, nice upgraded features
2008-10-26Just purchased this camera. Tested it at in various light and dark conditions, indoors and outdoors. I have to say, compared to my previous casio Ex-Z750 there is a definate improvement in image quality in all modalities. The Auto Best Shot feature appears fairly accurate in selecting the right BS shot. The 3" screen is very clear and bright. Battery life has yet to be tested however uses the same NP40 battery as previous models, which is a plus. The makeup feature actually does work, helps clear blemishes on faces.
The best feature I think is the self portrait shots. Basically you can press the shutter button, point the camera at yourself or with someone else, and it will take the picture once it has both faces in full view. The wide angle lens is also a plus, whereas before, self portrait shots only allowed maybe a close view of you and someone elses head, whereas now full face and body and background is in full view. Smile detection technology is also a nice feature, however you have to show your teeth in order for it to work.
HD movie is great. Only downside is it is in .mov format which now requires quicktime. For window users, if you are viewing photos in windows media gallery, and you click on the next button which is actually a .mov movie, windows media will crash. Not a big deal, but you just have to separate the .mov's from the jpgs.
Overall I love the camera, the black and silver contrast is very nice. Does leave some smudges but still a great looking camera.

Professional digital camcorders are better than your analog camcorder, or even your digital video camera. The advancements that have been made in the camcorder industry are amazing.
